Plantar Fasciitis Help

If you have issues with plantar fasciitis, then you are going to want to learn about the various ways you can go about getting relief from the pain. Here are some of the different ways you can go about getting relief from the intense pain, inflammation, and discomfort that comes with plantar fasciitis: 

Start with a foot rub in the morning

The mornings can be the hardest part of the day when you have plantar fasciitis. Taking those first steps out of bed can be almost unbearable. You can make them a bit easier by taking a few moments to massage the arches of your feet when you first wake up, even before you attempt to get out of bed. 

Take over-the-counter anti-inflammatories

You want to keep anti-inflammatories on hand for the days when the inflammation and pain is at it's worst. Keep in mind, you don't want to use the anti-inflammatories more than absolutely necessary because they can be hard on your stomach, especially when taken on an empty stomach. 

Follow the physical therapist's advice

If you have plantar fasciitis that persists, your podiatrist may send you to a physical therapist. They may show you exercises and stretches to do that may cause you more discomfort at first. However, as long as the discomfort isn't excessive, continue doing them because they may take time to give you noticeable results. However, if they do cause you more pain than you feel they should, then hold off and let the therapist or your podiatrist know as soon as possible. 

Wear good arch supports in your shoes

You want to use the right arch supports in your shoes that will distribute your weight evenly and in a way that will relieve some of the pain you are experiencing. Your podiatrist will be able to suggest the right type of arch supports for you to go with. 

Use a frozen water bottle on your feet

You'll want to make sure you always have some small frozen plastic water bottles in the freezer at all times when you are having a flare-up of plantar fasciitis. You can put your feet on the water bottles and slowly roll the bottles along your arches to help bring you some instant relief and to help bring down inflammation.


Your podiatrist may suggest injections to help you to get relief from the pain. These injections can only be done a certain number of times in a specific time frame, but they can often really help. You'll know after the first injection if they are going to be right for you.
